WFLA Letter
In 2006 Albert “Bucified Bert” Owens, developed a scholarship in the name of his late mother Emma Lee the Legend, I call it
OLE IS Alive. OLE stands for Operation Legacy Emma-Lee this dream came true.
May 9th 2007..

In 2007 Bucified Bert presented his first scholarship to Philicia Derns, a deserving high school student. Philicia
graduated with honors
from Howard W. Blake High School in Tampa. She plans to major in Public Relattions at the University of Central Florida. Her career goal is to become a Senior Public Relations Manager with ESPN/Disney or an athletic team.
Bucified Bert, along with All Sports Community Center, a not for profit organization dedicated to changing youths lives, chose Derns because she “strives to reach her maximum potential by rising above negative peer pressure.â€
Dozens of elementary school students from Gretna and Blountstown were on hand to share in the festivities.
Also making a guest appearance and singing the national anthem was the 2007 Miss Teen Florida Galaxy (formerly Miss Teen America 2006 Amanda Mason. We performed a song off of Amanda Mason`s CD. Tampa Bay Buccaneer players and the mascot for the New York Yankees also attended.
Three middle schools that are dedicated to the Bucified Bert philosophy participated the event along with several reporters and other community leaders committed to the future of young people.
I hope to grow and expand the event into a foundation that helps young people grow and thrive throughout the nation. OLE IS Alive.
The winner of my mother`s first Dream Seeker Scholarship for Mothers Day 2007 is Philicia Darns…Now
get ready for 2008 it will be bigger…Operation Legacy Emma-Lee…OLE IS
ALIVE…for all of the 2008

WHY?
I have an undying love and vigilance for my hometown, Tampa Bay that is clearly demonstrated in the way I passionately support the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and have been since the team’s inception. These sentiments are what motivate me to pass on, through my Bucified Bert character, the knowledge and experience I have gained during my tenure of over 15 years at WFLA Ch. 8. However, the impetus to do good, and the dream that I have is a testimony to my mother’s legacy. It’s the fuel that drives the Bucified Bert Dream Seeker Fund to minimize the financial burden for highly-motivated, college-bound students. The fund honors Bucified Bert’s Operation Legacy Emma-Lee. O.L.E. is alive and honors the memory of my mother. Each year during the week of Mother’s Day the fund awards scholarships so that wonderful mothers may be honored by the accomplishments of the amazing children they have raised. All Sports Community Service(a non-profit 501 (c) 3) will then oversee and guide the scholarship awards process. The Bucified Bert Dream Seeker Fund will also seek to raise funds with help from private donations and corporate sponsors to send select students to Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games (and other activities). The goal is to provide entrance to both home and away games along with T-shirts for students and chaperones at no cost to them thereby rewarding students who have chosen to stand out and be Bucified by excelling in both academic and community service involvement.
Our Mission
The mission of the Bucified Bert Dream Seeker Fund is to encourage students to live by the acronym (B.U.C.I.F.I.E.D.) or Be Understanding Citizens and Identify Friendly Individuals Each Day. Teaching children how to be Bucified gives them the tools to identify cyber predators, molesters, and other predators who may normally go undetected by a child’s unsuspecting radar. In addition to helping students stay safe and achieve a positive self view, the organization also plans to aid high-achieving, community-minded students with their higher education plans. By teaming up with other positive, goal driven people, the fund will open doors to education, employment and other opportunities for personal growth.
The BBDSF establishes a more organized approach to providing assistance to children like those whose lives have been touched over the last five years via Bucified Bert. In this small amount of time many exceptionally vigilant young people now pursuing their dreams and getting positive results in all areas of their lives. In the past, All Sports Community Service Inc. has aided BBDSF in helping some students get scholarships. The goal is for the Bucified Bert Dream Seeker Fund is to provide guidance and support on an even larger scale for our future law-abiding citizens.
